Established in 2009, Contrarian is a private group of business advisory and production service companies operating solely within the film and tv industry.
The Contrarian Group provides the following production & incentive services to studios, streamers and producers and their specific productions in Australia:
- Local SPV Entity set up and structure including establishment of bank accounts (all currencies) including MT940 Daily Reporting
- Production Services Agreement (PSA) incorporating Data Protection Addendums (DPA) with project owner(s)
- Project incentive planning & advice including Initial incentives estimate based on breakdown of budget
- Budgeting & local line producer/upm and financial controller suggestions/procurement
- Provisional Applications advice, facilitation & lodgement (Federal and all States)
- Sponsorship of International Cast/Crew working in Australia on the project
- Enter into local Union (MEAA) cast and crew agreement(s)
- Third party audit and law firm selection & facilitation (Contrarian are not an audit or law firm)
- Final application advice, facilitation & lodgement to achieve certification with the relevant government authorities and acquittals
- Applicant tax return to claim the federal incentive and receipt of the proceeds on behalf of the lender/financier and applicant

- Formal professional opinions in favour of the financier/lender and/or completion guarantor detailing the predicted qualifying spends, face value of the applicable incentives and resulting cash values
