AUSFILM WEEK LOS ANGELES 2019
The annual Ausfilm Week launched in Los Angeles on Sunday 20 October through to Friday 25 October. The week's mission is to connect the Australian federal and state government and Ausfilm's membership of screen businesses to studios and executives from the US film and TV industry.
Ausfilm Week is an exclusive program taking place in Los Angeles around the end of October each year, that includes a series of targeted events and networking opportunities.
Ausfilm Week enables Ausfilm and its screen industry corporate and government members to continue to strengthen their relationships with the US production industry. Ausfilm delivered a program of events to promote Australia as a premier destination for physical production with adaptable locations and skilled crew and to continue to attract post-production and VFX work.
The Ausfilm member’s delegation included executives and senior representatives from the Australian government’s Department of Communications and the Arts, Screen Australia and Australia’s state screen agencies – Film Victoria, Screen NSW, Screen Queensland, South Australian Film Corporation and the City of Gold Coast. Screen businesses attending Ausfilm Week comprised Australia’s major studios; post, sound and music facilities; VFX and animation companies; and financial, legal and travel services.
This year, Ausfilm was able to offer their members and clients an additional event as co-host of the West Coast premiere of Jill Bilcock: Dancing the Invisible, an hommage to the great Australian film editor who helped make Romeo+Juliet, Moulin Rouge and The Dressmaker, the stand-out productions they are.
Part of the Ausfilm Week program is the annual Australians in Film (AiF) Awards and Benefits Gala of which Ausfilm has been a proud partner for a number of years. The 2019 Ausfilm International Award was presented to Bill Draper, President Physical Production at Warner Bros. for his many years of support and partnership with Australia’s screen industry.
