IT MAKES FINANCIAL SENSE!

Australia has long been a trusted VFX provider, however, there is an extensive range of other eligible picture and sound post services, international filmmakers can access in Australia and receive the 30% Post, Digital and Visual Effects (PDV) Offset.

If a production spends AU$500,000 on VFX (or post, sound and music) it is eligible for a 30% tax rebate on every dollar spent. 

PLEASE NOTE UPDATES: The Australian Government announced changes to the PDV Offset and its guidelines on 30 September 2020. The threshold for QAPE spend will increase from AU$500,000 to AU$1 million and will come into effect for productions that commence PDV activity on or after 1 July 2021. COMBINE THE 30% PDV FEDERAL OFFSET WITH UP TO 10% STATE PDV OFFSET!

Some Australian states also offer additional PDV incentives of up to 10 – 20%

The state governments of Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia and Victoria all offer an additional 10% PDV Offset. Western Australia offers 20% on a production spend of up to AU$500,00 and 10% after that.
These can be combined with the federal government’s 30% PDV Offset (outlined above), taking your PDV incentive to up to 40%.
