WRAP-UP ON A BLOCKBUSTER MONTH FOR THE NSW SCREEN INDUSTRY

NSW film production is zipping by, if you blink you might miss it! Here’s a snapshot of screen production and activities for June in New South Wales.

Ryan Gosling Falls for Sydney, New South Wales

Sydney will soon play host to the big-budget feature, The Fall Guy. The Universal Filmed Entertainment Group production starring Ryan Gosling, was drawn by Sydney’s stunning locations, support through the Federal Government’s Location Incentive program and Screen NSW’s Made in NSW – International Footloose Production fund.

Acting Head of Screen NSW, David Gordon stated, “NSW is a highly attractive place to film, and we have seen a boom in film production over the last two years, through both our highly skilled cast and crew and with Screen NSW’s Made in NSW – International Footloose Production fund.”

The live-action feature is based on the 80s television series, The Fall Guy, which was created by Glen A. Larson and starred Lee Majors as a Hollywood stunt man who, to make ends meet, has a side hustle as a bounty hunter.

Ten Pound Poms heads Downunder to NSW

Ten Pound Poms, a drama series about a group of British settlers (Poms) starting their new lives in Australia in 1956, will film in NSW in the coming months. Attracted to Australia through the Australian Government’s AU$540 million Location Incentive program and the NSW State Government’s Made in NSW fund.

Acting Head of Screen NSW David Gordon said “Screen NSW is proud to have attracted Ten Pound Poms to NSW through the Made in NSW – International Footloose Production fund, and with the competitive edge provided by our world-class crews and production facilities, and our extraordinary talent.”

“We have unique locations and scenery in NSW that can double for location needs of any production, and importantly for Ten Pound Poms we have the historical locations, architecture, heritage homes, and museums that bring this story to life.”

Ten Pound Poms is a Stan Original in Australia, produced by the UK production company Eleven Film, the team behind the award-winning Sex Education, for the BBC in association with Stan. Curio Pictures is providing production services in Australia.

Filmed in NSW and released on Netflix US in June 2022

Interceptor

Netflix’s action movie Interceptor starring Elsa Pataky aired in the US on 3 June 2022.  Produced by Ambience Entertainment and filmed in New South Wales, the production was assisted by Screen NSW through the Made in NSW – International Footloose Production fund.

Members who worked on Interceptor include:

Heliguy provided aerial cinematography
Show Group provided travel services
Panavision Asia provided camera equipment
Spectrum Films provided a complete suite of Post Production Services, including Data Management, Editorial, 4K Digital Intermediate (inc HDR Grading), Sound Design & Sound Editing, ADR, Dolby Atmos Home Entertainment Sound Mixing & Engineering, Theatrical and Home Entertainment deliverables.

God’s Favorite Idiot

The first episode of God’s Favorite Idiot, an American workplace comedy series created by and starring Ben Falcone for Netflix, aired in the US on 15 June 2022.  The series, also starring Melissa McCarthy, shot on location in the Northern Rivers Region of New South Wales and at Byron Studios and was supported by the Made in NSW – International Footloose fund.
