One of Australia’s leading universities, the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), is partnering with Animal Logic to deliver a groundbreaking, industry-led postgraduate program. UTS and Animal logic have established the UTS Animal Logic Academy (UTS ALA), initially offering a Master of Animation and Visualisation (MAV).
Commencing in 2017, the Academy will run an intensive 12-month postgraduate program that will be delivered in a professional studio setting that emulates the working environment of highly creative and technology-driven studios like Animal Logic.
“It is clear that Australia has a huge opportunity in the animation and visualisation industries, not just in the film and television sectors, but more broadly in the areas of digital visualisation and content creation, areas that traverse the games industries. We are seeing a lot of investment going into the virtual reality and augmented reality industries encouraging the growth of a highly competitive global industry which is beneficial to Australia’s economy,” said Animal Logic CEO, Zareh Nalbandian.
The Academy was created in response to critical industry demand for graduates with expertise in visualisation and virtualisation. Students will graduate as the ‘smart creatives’ of tomorrow, ready to lead the creative workforce, innovate in more traditional professions, and drive the development of new industry sectors.
“The Academy will provide a cutting-edge, immersive environment for students to be able to develop critical industry-focused knowledge and professional practice skills that will be immediately transferrable to established and emerging visualisation industries, both in Australia and internationally,” Zareh said.
The MAV is a program like no other in Australia, deeply industry linked and led, aimed to generate skills and has the capacity to enable Australia to be a leading player globally in the creative industries and in particular the emerging visualisation sector, a sector that will be a critical contributor to future employment for Australia.
The program will foster the development of Australian creative talent in film, elevating Australia’s reputation as a centre of innovation and creative excellence.
