TRACEY VIEIRA REAPPOINTED FOR ANOTHER THREE-YEAR TERM AT SCREEN QUEENSLAND

CEO Tracey Vieira will be at the helm of Screen Queensland for another three-year term with the renewal of her contract until February 2020.

During her first three-year term as CEO, Ms Vieira secured a number of international productions to Queensland including Aquaman, Pacific Rim 2, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Thor: Ragnarok, Kong: Skull Island and The Shallows.

Screen Queensland Chair Linda Apelt said Tracey had achieved great success.

“Tracey has championed change in a fast moving, global environment, and has focused on new digital platforms and increased collaboration, community and communication with the industry,” Ms Apelt said.

Ms Vieira will continue her focus on attracting international productions to the state, growing Queensland’s screen industry, upskilling local industry and partnering with new screen platforms including YouTube, Netflix, Stan, and ABC iview.

Another significant area of focus is to increase female involvement in the industry.

“Over the last few years and in sync with the global movement for improving women’s status in the industry, I am spearheading Queensland’s movement for greater gender equality in screen – both in front of and behind the camera,” Ms Vieira said.

“Another aim is to improve diversity, increase inclusiveness, and continue the support for Indigenous productions.”

“There is great potential in telling the stories of Indigenous Queenslanders on screen in what is an area of exciting growth,” Ms Vieira said.

“I plan to keep the momentum going for Screen Queensland,” she said.

“We are on track to produce a record amount of work in the 2016/17 financial year and I am excited for the many opportunities ahead.”

In the 2015-16 financial year, Screen Queensland supported 21 domestic productions and 10 international productions (including PFV attractions). Screen Queensland achieved $203 million in Queensland Production Expenditure and created 3,154 jobs.
