TAG was thrilled to be selected as the travel management partner for the Australian feature film Kangaroo, filmed on location in Alice Springs. Alli Pratt, Director of Production at TAG APAC, shared her insights on the project.
With its breathtaking desert landscapes, remote setting and inspiring story, the production brought both opportunities and challenges — and we were proud to play a role in making it all happen.
“Having supported film projects in Alice Springs before, our team knew that detailed planning would be essential. From navigating limited accommodation options to ensuring reliable transport across vast distances, every detail mattered. Thanks to TAG’s long-standing relationships with local suppliers and our experience in delivering complex logistics in regional Australia, the cast and crew could focus on bringing the story to life.”

The TAG team managed several bookings including more than 330 domestic room nights and more than 3,600 rental car days. These bookings reflect the scale of coordination required when working in regional centres, particularly for productions with tight schedules and large teams.
Kangaroo is a heart-warming family comedy that follows ex-TV personality Chris Masterman, who becomes stranded in an Outback town after a car accident on his way to Broome. There, he meets Charlie, an 11-year-old girl, and together they form an unlikely friendship as they rescue and rehabilitate orphaned joeys in the stunning yet remote Outback. Their journey proves to be life-changing for both characters and shines a light on Australia’s wildlife and communities.
On a personal note, this project held a special connection for me. Years earlier, I had visited the Kangaroo Sanctuary in Alice Springs with my family — a remarkable conservation project set up by Chris “Brolga” Barnes, which went on to inspire the film. It was a joy to revisit that experience while supporting a film that celebrates the sanctuary’s mission. (Pictured is my own joey, Archie, having his first cuddle with a kangaroo.)

TAG is proud to support productions like Kangaroo that not only showcase Australia’s unique landscapes but also tell stories that resonate with audiences worldwide. This project was a reminder of the power of planning, partnership, and passion for storytelling — and the special role TAG plays in travel management and bringing it all together.”
