SOUTH AUSTRALIAN SCREEN NEWS ROUND UP

South Australian made and SAFC supported children’s series First Day keeps winning international accolades, this week taking home the Kidscreen Award for Best Live Action Series (Kids Programming). The series has also been nominated for Most Outstanding Kids & Family Programming in the 2021 GLAAD Media Awards honouring media for fair, accurate, and inclusive representations of LGBTQIA+ people and issues. Produced by South Australian producer Kirsty Stark and co-producer Kate Butler, and directed by Julie Kalceff, the series was produced by South Australia’s Epic Films in association with KOJOFirst Day is available for streaming on Hulu in the US, and on CBBC in the UK.

South Australian filmed and produced Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) comedy drama series Aftertaste from Adelaide Studios based Closer Productions (52 Tuesdays, Animals, The Hunting) has been selected to participate in the Berlinale Series Market Selects at this year’s Berlin Film Festival in MarchAftertaste is the only Australian project on the newly-created program, which highlights projects with strong commercial potential, and also features series from the UK, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Canada, France, Norway, the Netherlands, Russia and Spain.
