SOUTH AUSTRALIA SHINES ON THE BIG AND SMALL SCREEN!

South Australia continues to attract major productions to shoot and post in the state.

Combining competitive production grant funding with Australia’s simplest and most attractive post-production grant – both of which can be combined with one of the Federal incentives to maximise the value of working down under.

Netflix’s first two Australian television drama series have both found homes in South Australia with Pine Gap shooting on location and on the sound stages of  Adelaide Studios before moving on to picture post and VFX with Ausfilm member Kojo, while Tidelands will have its VFX work produced exclusively by Ausfilm member Resin, also based in Adelaide.

Leading Australian TV production companies Screentime (Underbelly, Wolf Creek TV Series) and Matchbox Pictures (Safe Harbour, Glitch) are both opening offices in South Australia in 2018, to produce high-end drama as well as drama fuelled reality projects in the state.

South Australian projects have been recognised on the world stage with Cargo premiering at Tribeca Film Festival prior to its Netflix launch and F**king Adelaide screening In Competition at Series Mania. The series was created and directed by Sophie Hyde, who has just wrapped on feature Animals starring Alia Shawkat and Holliday Grainger.

The South Australian PDV Offset – which can be used in conjunction with the Federal PDV offset to a make a combined total of a 40% rebate – is already proving a game changer for projects considering post and VFX in South Australia.  Tomb Raider and Peter Rabbit have accessed the grant for works by Rising Sun Pictures with a pipeline of projects in negotiation across the local post and VFX companies.

With outstanding incentives, access to an incredible diversity of locations within a few miles of the city, as well as the exceptional Adelaide Studios’ facilities, South Australia is the ideal base for screen production and world-class post and VFX work from anywhere across the globe.
