PATEL & HAMMER FILM ‘HOTEL MUMBAI’ IN ADELAIDE

Leading Hollywood superstars and South Australian filmmakers came together in Adelaide to create a major international production, Hotel Mumbai in August.

The film, starring Dev Patel (Lion, Slumdog Millionaire) and  Armie Hammer (The Man From U.N.C.L.E, The Social Network) tells the astonishing true story of the victims and survivors of the devastating attacks on Mumbai in 2008 and tackles one of the defining global issues of our time.

Directed by South Australian director Anthony Maras (The Palace), Hotel Mumbai is produced by US heavy weights Basil Iwanyk (Gods of Egypt, Sicario), Gary Hamilton and Mike Gabrawy (Jungle, Nest, Resident Evil) working closely with Adelaide South Australian Producer Julie Ryan (Red Dog, Ten Canoes), Jomon Thomas (The Man Who Knew Infinity), and documentary filmmaker Andrew Ogilvie (Surviving Mumbai).

Filmed at Adelaide Studios, which was transformed to become the interiors of Mumbai’s Taj Mahal Hotel. The film will utilise the Adelaide Studios’ 7.1 Dolby Mixing Theatre with VFX and post-production company Kojo (The Darkness, The Babadook) engaged to work on post-supervision, picture and sound services and visual effects.

Production partners in Hotel Mumbai include Screen Australia, Xeitgeist Entertainment Group, Ingenious Media and the South Australian Film Corporation. The film is co-produced between Arclight Films, Thunder Road Pictures, Electric Pictures and Cyan Films.

International distribution is being handled by Arclight Films with the film already acquired for Australian distribution by Icon Film Distribution and The Weinstein Company for USA and UK.
