Netflix’s Interceptor is the latest in a suite of high-end international productions to call New South Wales home.
Interceptor will be directed by best-selling Australian action and thriller writer Matthew Reilly, and will star Elsa Pataky (The Fast and the Furious franchise, Tidelands), and Luke Bracey (Holidate, Point Break, G.I. Joe: Retaliation).
The script was written by Reilly and Stuart Beattie (Collateral, Tomorrow When the War Began), who also produces alongside Matthew Street and Michael Boughen for Ambience Entertainment, a NSW business that has been in operation for over 30 years.
Chris Hemsworth is executive producing the film alongside Kathy Morgan, Christopher Mapp, Robert Slaviero, and Peter D. Graves.
Key finance for the production is from Netflix, the Australian Producer Offset with financial support provided by Screen NSW’s Made in NSW Fund.
Securing production of Netflix’s Interceptor is a win for the NSW screen industry, as international productions seek out the winning combination of highly skilled cast and crew, technical ability, competitiveness, and creativity, all which showcase NSW’s production, post production, CGI and VFX prowess.
Made in NSW, the NSW Government’s $175 million fund over five years, is managed by Screen NSW to attract international film and television production to the state and support major new Australian TV drama and feature films.
Ausfilm Members Fin Design + Effects is bringing their trademark high-end VFX execution to Interceptor and have been providing Pre-Visualisation services which have been pivotal in the planning for this ambitious project.
Spectrum Films is providing post-production services and Panavision is supplying camera equipment for Interceptor.
