MY YOUNGER SELF: SCREEN QUEENSLAND

This post takes us back in time to meet key executives from Queensland’s state screen agency, Screen Queensland.

In this photo, Derek Hall, Head of Screen Queensland Studios, is 20 years old and on deployment with the US Navy. He’s now a long way from combat now, but is the man to make things happen with military precision at Screen Queensland Studios – one of Australia’s largest screen facilities and the location for Paramount Pictures’ Monster Problems, starring Dylan O’Brien and currently due for release next year.

Gina Black, Executive Vice President, Production Incentives and Attraction at Screen Queensland is seen standing in the centre of the second row in this photo, behind Director Ian Barry.

Gina is part of the crew on the set of Mermaids for Viacom, shot at Seaworld Drive at Main Beach on the Gold Coast in 2002.  The set was built on a block of vacant land and those familiar with the area will notice Palazzo Versace, The Broadwater and Surfers Paradise in the background.

Gina can’t wait to welcome everyone back to Queensland and the Gold Coast to continue making outstanding feature films for global audiences.
