METHOD’S VFX SUPERVISOR CHATS WORK FOR NETFLIX’S RECENTLY RELEASED SPIDERHEAD

With the new Netflix-produced, Joseph-Kosinski-directed Spiderhead now streaming globally, Method Melbourne’s joint Head of 2D and VFX supervisor Dom Hellier highlights some of the studio’s work on the film.

As the main VFX company on the film, Method Melbourne completed 160+ shots. The scope of the work was expansive, says Hellier.

“There was a broad range of call-outs that included a lot of environment work, CG vehicles, explosions, blood enhancements, psychedelic footage treatments and our primary task of building and integrating the monolithic Spiderhead prison. A huge building of brutalist concrete design, the prison sits on an idyllic tropical peninsula, overhanging clear, blue waters: a stark contrast with its surroundings. The director’s desire was that it served as not only a location but a character.”

Spiderhead is streaming on Netflix now.
