Technicolor has announced MR. X and Mill Film will merge under the MR. X name, bringing together the expertise and creativity of both brands into a stronger, united entity.

COVID-19 is changing the entertainment industry, the theatrical market is being re-imagined and many projects are currently on hold indefinitely. The merger is a direct and necessary response to align to the changing needs of the business.

The newly combined, expanded studio will service clients across both film and episodic. Laura Fitzpatrick, MD of Mill Film, will move into a Managing Director role at MR. X, based in Montreal,  Dennis Berardi, founder of MR. X, assumes the position of Creative Director for the studio, and Alexandra Daunt Watney remains Head of Studio in Adelaide.

“The talent, expertise and technical capability of a combined Mill Film and MR. X, place us in the ideal position to partner with clients across to the globe to exceed their creative ambition.” says Alexandra Daunt Watney. “We are excited to bring our outstanding creative team together with MR. X and their 20-year reputation for excellence.”

The studio will merge the best of both brands (including work ethic, company culture, creative problem-solving, cutting edge technology, workflow expertise) together into a winning formula that makes the studio better for both clients and crew alike, whilst having the flexibility to serve productions resuming at different times in different parts of the world. The expansion of the studio’s talent pool paves the way for the team to share knowledge and best practices for delivering projects of all genres, formats and mediums.

Mill Film would like to thank each and every one the crew members who have been a part of the Mill Film journey so far. All studios will remain open in Montreal, Adelaide and Bangalore.
