I AM WOMAN ROARS AROUND THE WORLD

SAFC supported feature I Am Woman has been lauded by international critics after its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last month.

Directed by Unjoo Moon in her feature directorial debut, the film tells the story of iconic Australian singer Helen Reddy, whose song I Am Woman became an unofficial anthem for the global feminist movement in the 1970s.

Indiewire declared the film “a cut above other genre entries” while The Hollywood Reporter described it as “entertaining and sharply packaged” with “considerable appeal”, with Toronto movie review site That Shelf calling it a “sure fire crowd pleaser”.

Adelaide actor Tilda Cobham-Hervey has also earned acclaim for her leading performance as Reddy, named as a breakout star to watch by Entertainment Weekly, described as “effortlessly captivating” by The Hollywood Reporter and praised for her “sheer star power” by Indiewire.

The production was supported by the SAFC, with post sound mixed in the Dolby Premier 7.1 Mixing Theatre at Adelaide Studios.

I Am Woman screened at the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea earlier this month and will be released by Transmission Films in 2020.
