From international blockbusters to independent productions, 2025 marked a defining year for Disney Studios Australia (DSA), welcoming major productions from Legendary Entertainment, Netflix, Sony Pictures and 20th Century Studios alongside a strong slate of Australian and international independents.

One of the largest productions on site in 2025 was Legendary Entertainment’s Street Fighter, which maintained a significant footprint across the lot for eight months, utilising five world-class sound stages for principal photography and stunt rehearsals with its star-studded cast of UFC icons and superstar fighters. The production also occupied production offices, workshops and support spaces, exemplifying the kind of complex, high-volume international projects DSA continues to attract.

Throughout the year, DSA was home to a slate of major international projects, including 20th Century Studios’ Send Help, Netflix’s Apex, and Sony Pictures’ I Know What You Did Last Summer. The Studio supported a diverse range of independent, scripted and unscripted productions, including Place to Be, Alex Proyas’ R.U.R., and NCIS: Sydney, highlighting the breadth of projects drawn to the facility. Enabled by DSA’s scale and flexibility, the Studio was able to host multiple feature films and series concurrently throughout the year.

Sustainability remained a key focus in 2025, with DSA becoming the first operating film studio in Australia to install on-site solar power. More than 700 solar panels were installed across the lot, delivering a 460kW system that significantly reduces the Studio’s environmental footprint. This milestone sits alongside ongoing infrastructure investment, including prioritising the installation of new energy-efficient HVAC infrastructure, further reducing energy consumption and improving operational efficiency.

Set on a 32-acre site, DSA offers the largest integrated film studio facility in the southern hemisphere. The Studio features nine sound stages ranging from 2,000 to 42,000 square feet (200–4,000 sqm), supported by fit-for-purpose production offices, purpose-built construction, costume and art department workshops, catering facilities, secure parking and 24-hour security, with access to backlots and a range of diverse locations just minutes away.

DSA is also home to one of Australia’s most comprehensive creative communities, with more than 50 screen production businesses based on site. Together, these tenants provide an end-to-end production ecosystem spanning lighting, camera and equipment hire, aerial cinematography, props and wardrobe, sound and music post-production, scoring and foley, a state-of-the-art Dolby Atmos theatre, 3D scanning and virtual production services, animation and visual effects, as well as production accounting and incentive support, making DSA a one-stop shop for production needs.

With strong momentum behind it, DSA looks ahead to another standout year in 2026, continuing to attract world-class productions while supporting the growth of Australia’s screen industry.
