Disney Studios Australia is proud to announce the completion of one of its most significant sustainability goals, led by the studio’s “Green Team”.
With the installation of more than 700 solar panels powering a 460kW system, Disney Studios Australia has become the first operating film studio in Australia to implement solar energy. The achievement marks a major step forward in reducing the studio’s environmental impact and reflects the studios commitment to meaningful and measurable action towards a healthier planet. “This project was driven by our team’s dedication to do better for our industry and for the environment,” said Head of Disney Studios Australia, Yasmine Lintmeijer.

“This project is a significant milestone in our journey toward a more sustainable future. By integrating green grid energy onto our site, we’re not only reducing emissions but also setting a new benchmark for sustainability within the screen industry”
Cassey Stone, Disney Studios Australia Sustainability Executive
The solar initiative is one of many environmental projects led by the studio’s Green Team. The site has already achieved The Walt Disney Company’s 2030 zero-waste-to-landfill target, nine years early, through waste segregation. Additionally, the studio has transitioned a number of buildings to 100% GreenPower and introduced rain water tanks across the site to reduce water consumption.

These efforts form part of Disney Studios Australia’s ongoing efforts to create a more sustainable studio environment.
