BBC SECURES ABC’S FIRESTARTER: THE STORY OF BANGARRA

The critically acclaimed NSW made feature documentary Firestarter: The Story of Bangarra has been picked up by BBC (UK & Ireland,) to be broadcast on BBC Four TV channel and iPlayer digital platform in 2022.

Executively produced by Ivan O’Mahoney and Nial Fulton for In Films and directed by Wayne Blair and Nel Minchin, the documentary shares the history of the iconic theatre company Bangarra Dance Theatre, telling the story of how three young talented Aboriginal brothers — Stephen, David and Russell Page created the highly acclaimed Australian theatre company.

Firestarter: The Story of Bangarra was recently named Best Arts Program at the 2021 Rose d’Or Awards and won the Best Documentary Award at Pan African Film + Arts Festival 2021.

The award-winning documentary has also been sold to Sky New Zealand, SVT Sweden, YLE Finland, and SRF Switzerland.  Firestarter: The Story of Bangarra was financed by Screen NSW and Screen Australia.

Spectrum Films provided a complete suite of post-production services for Firestarter: The Story of Bangarra including editorial, digital intermediate, sound design and sound mix.
