Disney Studios Australia is proud to announce it has been shortlisted for two categories at the 2026 Global Production Awards, recognising the studio’s continued leadership in studio excellence, sustainability, and industry innovation. This international acknowledgement places DSA alongside some of the most respected facilities in the world and reflects the dedication of its team to deliver outstanding outcomes for productions both locally and globally.

Nominated for Studio of the Year, DSA has been recognised for its world-class infrastructure, innovative thinking and exceptional client service with a strong commitment to sustainability and the Australian creative community. Located in the heart of Sydney, the studio has recently hosted major international productions including 20th Century Studios’ Send Help, Netflix’s Apex, Legendary’s Street Fighter, Sony’s I Know What You Did Last Summer and Amazon MGM’s Play Dirty.

Momentum has continued into 2026, with an Apple feature kicking off the year, occupying up to eight of the nine sound stages, alongside other features in pre‑production. At the same time, DSA remains a hub for local content such as NCIS: Sydney, Lego Masters, Playing Grace Darling, and Dancing with the Stars. With nine sound stages and 155,000 sq ft of production space, careful planning allows multiple global and domestic projects to operate seamlessly side by side.

DSA continues to invest in its future through infrastructure upgrades, such as improvements to air conditioning, high-speed Wi-Fi, lighting upgrades, and upgrades to building amenities.

As a leader in sustainability, innovation, and community engagement, DSA supports emerging talent, partners with industry education providers, and gives back through meaningful community initiatives. Together, these efforts position DSA as a world‑class studio with purpose at its core.

DSA has also been shortlisted in the category of Sustainability Initiative, focusing on the studios’ major sustainability milestone with the installation of more than 700 solar panels in June 2025, delivering a 460kW system across five buildings – the first and largest solar project completed for a film studio in Australia.

With evidence supporting significant emission reductions, early performance data shows that the system is already contributing to improving energy resilience.

The project also earned DSA the Environmental Media Association Gold Seal, making it the first studio outside the US to receive this global recognition. Overcoming heritage constraints, rooftop shading and continuous production schedules, the installation was delivered without disruption. Combined with 100% Greenpower purchases and zero‑waste initiatives, the project demonstrates DSA’s measurable leadership in decarbonisation, renewable energy adoption and community-focused environmental performance.
