Ausfilm hosted a Parliament House reception in March 2026 to highlight the positive impact of the Location Offset reforms

Ausfilm hosted a reception at Australia’s Parliament House on 24 March 2025, bringing together Senators, MPs and industry stakeholders working across international screen production. The event focused on the impact of the Location Offset reforms and the opportunities they are creating for Australia’s screen sector.

The evening provided a platform to share real stories from across the industry – from jobs created to careers kickstarted – demonstrating how the reforms are strengthening the sector, supporting local businesses and contributing to the broader economy. With Parliamentarians and industry in the room, the event highlighted the tangible benefits of continued government support for screen production in Australia.

Ausfilm Chair Sam Martin-Williams welcomed guests, followed by remarks from the Hon. Susan Templeman. Industry perspectives were shared by several guest speakers, including director Patrick Hughes (War Machine, The Hitman’s Bodyguard), Unit Production Manager Anne Bruning (The Fall Guy, Elvis, Aquaman) and Studio Blackbird’s Managing Director / Executive Producer Nerissa Kavanagh (All Her Fault, Better Man, The Last of Us S2), each highlighting the importance of international projects and the momentum created by recent policy settings.

The event formed part of a broader program of meetings across 24–25 March, with Ausfilm engaging with key government stakeholders across the Arts, Trade, Communications, Small Business and Immigration portfolios, as well as relevant Parliamentary committees.

The reception reinforced the value of strong collaboration between industry and government, and the role of policy in supporting a globally competitive and growing Australian screen sector.
