About the Role

You are a self-starter, comfortable working within a small but efficient team with senior executives, extremely organised and you enjoy devising achievable project timelines and the challenge of keeping a small team focussed on delivering project outcomes to deadline. You also happen to be interested in the Australian and international film and television industry, not the celebrities or stars but the makers, technicians and vendors behind film and TV. The Member Marketing & Research Coordinator is responsible for liaising with Ausfilm’s membership of over 60 screen businesses and government screen agencies; providing communications and marketing content support that build awareness of members’ services; assisting the marketing team in writing, compiling and executing digital communications campaigns to the global market; and updating Ausfilm’s website, social media channels and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software.

This position is also responsible for supporting the organisation’s industry research projects focussing on the international and Australia’s film and television sector.

There will be initiatives as directed by the CEO and in collaboration with the Head of Policy & Research and the Director of Marketing & Industry Partnerships and according to Ausfilm’s annual corporate strategic business plan.


Membership Marketing

  • As directed by the marketing team compile, build and sub-edit Ausfilm’s monthly digital newsletters that promote Australia’s capability as a production destination, the work by Ausfilm member companies and the talent and innovation within Australia’s screen industry – to the global screen market, including setting deadlines, planning distribution schedules and following up with Ausfilm members for content each month and for solo campaigns;
  • Assist with the development and execution of Ausfilm’s communications including but not limited to: film and TV projects shot in Australia EDMs, annual report content, government and member-only newsletters, the annual Ausfilm Magazine, the member Work with the Best website directory, industry factsheets, website posts;
  • Collate and write monthly statistical reports for Ausfilm’s digital newsletters and media monitoring for the purposes of board and government reports;
  • Support the marketing team with planning campaigns and writing content for Ausfilm’s social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn); and compiling video content of international client interviews to align with Ausfilm’s Business and Marketing strategies;

Industry Research

  • Work with Ausfilm CEO and Head of Policy & Research (HoPR) to deliver various research projects for the organisation;
  • Assist Ausfilm CEO and HoP&R, in compiling data, and developing case studies relevant to Ausfilm’s advocacy strategy, with a focus on business technology developments, training, innovation of equipment/tech;
  • Assist with desktop research and literature searches relating to the international and domestic screen industry;
  • Assist with the project management of, and creation of project timelines to keep the team on track so projects are delivered by deadline; and
  • Perform other duties as required.

Key Selection Criteria

  1. Highly skilled oral, written communication and critical thinking skills demonstrated with the ability to communicate effectively and to assist in communicating research findings for a range of audiences.
  1. Understanding of, and appreciation of, the values and roles of a major research project for government analysis.
  2. Demonstrate your ability to be reliable and pro-active with the ability to work independently but report into your supervisor regularly.
  1. Demonstrate your experience in managing projects with the ability to deliver work to agreed timelines.
  1. Exceptional IT skills: advanced experience in Microsoft Office products including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
  1. Experience in CRMs, WordPress and EDM campaign software e.g. Campaign Monitor or Mail Chimp is desirable but can be trained.
  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications or work experience in humanities and social sciences or communications required.

This is a full-time 12-month contract position. This position reports into the CEO and Director of Marketing and Industry Partnerships.
