Studio Gilay is where bold storytelling meets deep collaboration.
Founded in 2021 by Jake Duczynski and James Hackett, this Sydney-based, Indigenous co-owned studio is making waves with its honest, design-driven approach to animation and storytelling.
At the heart of Gilay is a commitment to originality, diversity, and meaningful representation. With over a third of the team identifying as Indigenous, the studio is powered by a creative force of writers, directors, and artists who are passionate about telling stories that matter.
Studio Gilay’s work has reached millions — airing on ABC Australia, SBS, NITV, Stan, and Netflix; lighting up national landmarks like the Sydney Opera House, the National Portrait Gallery, the Australian National Maritime Museum and Federation Square; and fronting campaigns for state and federal governments.
Renowned for its deep partnerships with Indigenous creatives and communities, Studio Gilay is helping carve out space for First Nations voices in animation. From Aurukun to Papunya, Brewarrina to Wilcannia, their work is grounded in connection, culture, and collaboration.
